Woofy

Woofy is a 1 year old, 35 lb (born July 4th, 2022) male Australian Shepherd mix seeking a forever home. He came to Marden’s Ark Dog Tales along with his brother Sonic when the owners’ lives changed and they felt that another home would be best for them. Woofy would love to be loved and in turn will guard your farm or help you do tasks and would love to be your best buddy. He is very intelligent, alert and easily trained. Already crate trained, he knows several commands…”come”, ” back”, ‘sit”, “wait”, “no”, “yes/good boy”, “kennel up’ and ‘go get it”…and presently working on “easy” and “stay close”.

Woofy is a little cautious at first when meeting new people since he hasn’t had a lot of world experience. He would do very well in a home with someone who can be patient while this smart boy figures it all out and bonds with his new family.  He will be a very loyal companion when given just a little time to adjust.  Woofy lives with cats and  chickens and just wants to play with them.  He is basically still a puppy.

Leash trained and crate trained. Woofy does very well with potty training in the house. Favorite things to do are running and playing with toys, getting treats, swimming & splashing in water, taking hikes, climbing new mountains, jumping for joy, finding things you may have lost, sitting and “talking” with you and taking short rides in the car to get treats and of course they love meal times!

Woofy and his brother Sonic are energetic, very smart boys. They may do well in agility, nose work, or other fun activities.

Woofy is being fostered near Asheville, NC. The foster is willing to drive to the Raleigh area for the right home for him.

Woofy is up to date on vaccines and heartworm and flea preventative. He is also neutered.

Adoption Fee: $300

Rex

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Rex is about 1o years old and we think a Husky/Border Collie mix (his eyes are half blue).  One of our volunteers came across Rex delivering for Meals on Wheels.   He was tied up outside where he has spent his entire life.    The owner said they didn’t want him and gave him to Marden’s Ark Dog Tales.   We took Rex to the vet to get up to date on vaccines.  He tested positive for Heartworms.  Not surprising since he lived his life outside without heartworm preventative.  Rex needs to be neutered but has to have treatment to get rid of his heartworms first.  He has completed the heartworm treatment.  He will need to be retested in June 2024 to confirm he is heartworm free.   He will be ready to be neutered in November.

Rex is an older laid back guy.  He gets along with other dogs and people.  Rex is house trained and will hit a hanging bell from the door knob when he needs to go outside.  He’s very smart !

Heartworm treatment is expensive.  We need your help to pay for Rex’s treatment and get him neutered.

Rosie

Rosie is a sweet,  about 5-year-old chihuahua mix and weighs 9.5 pounds.  The vet that did her dental says her teeth look like she may be younger.   She came to Marden’s Ark Dog Tales as a very shy and skittish stray.  Since then, Rosie has opened right up and wants to give everyone all her love!

Rosie is a little hesitant on a leash but she’s improving. She is mostly house trained and only has accidents if she isn’t let out when it’s time to wake up in the morning.  Therefore, she would do best on a schedule. She is also crate trained.  Rosie does well with other small dogs but, she hasn’t been around many other sizes of dogs. She can be reactive when she becomes scared or startled so she would do best in a home without small children. She may require some patience if she becomes startled, but she’s worth it.

Rosie absolutely loves people and getting attention! She will make sure you keep petting her by nudging your hand non-stop. Her tail never seems to stop wagging and she always has a smile on her face when she’s around people. She has quite the personality and likes to army crawl across the floor. You’re guaranteed to get a good laugh in when you’re around Rosie. She doesn’t seem to have much interest in dog toys aside from chew sticks and does not bark much unless another dog in the house is barking. She would make a great addition to a family and can’t wait to meet her forever home.

Rosie is up to date on all vaccines, heartworm preventative, and flea preventative. She is spayed and microchipped.

Adoption Fee:  $300

Petunia

Petunia is a sweet Shih Tzu mix about 5 years old and 12 lbs. She came to Marden’s Ark Dog Tales when she was picked up as a very matted, and underweight stray. No one came to claim her. She’s got the cutest underbite ! She loves people and gets along well with other dogs. She’s more interested in people than dogs but doesn’t mind other dogs at all.

Petunia does well on a leash, going out to dinner (food is her most favorite thing), and in the car. She is house trained and crate trained. She has gained some weight and is at a good size now. Petunia just had a dental and bloodwork done.
She would be happy in a home with other dogs or being the only dog.

Petunia is up to date on all vaccines, heartworm preventative, and flea preventative. She is spayed and microchipped.

Petunia’s adoption fee is $300.

Blue

Looking for an Adopter for Sweet Blue !!

(Blue is located near Charlotte, NC but is willing to travel for the right family)
Blue is a mostly black lab/ pit bull mix. He is about 60 lbs and just over a year old (born 4/2022). He came to Marden’s Ark Dog Tales when his owners could no longer care for him. He has spent his life tied up outside so he is learning about proper indoor living but he’s a smart boy and is catching on quickly.

Blue loves all people and most dogs. He loves to play and snuggle and enjoys car rides and walks in the park. He would be a good fit with an active family that has another playful dog. Because of his size and energy level, he should not be in a home with small children. He loves to play ! He walks well on a leash but has a lot of puppy (and freedom) excitement so we’re working on his pulling. He is house trained now and crate trained although he is not fond of the crate. He does a very good sit with or without treats. But if he sees a treat he will sit automatically without being asked. Blue needs a family with a fenced yard so he has space to run and play and use that puppy energy !

Blue wants a family that loves him and he will love them right back !

Blue is up to date on all vaccines, heartworm preventative, and flea preventative. He is neutered and microchipped.

Blue’s adoption fee is $300.

5 Lovely Ladies

5 Lovely Ladies

We got a phone call about a lady that had several dogs. She had just had her second heart attack and caring for all the dogs was just too much on her. Through tears, she made the decision that the best thing for her and the dogs was for these cuties to come to Marden’s Ark Dog Tales.

All 5 of them ! Meet White Lily (the only white dog), G-Baby (in the photo with White Lily), Jynx, JJ (the 2 mostly black curly haired ones), and Jules (in a photo by herself). They all need to get up to date on vaccines, spayed (White Lily is the Grandma, G-Baby her daughter, and Jules is G-Baby’s daughter, and Jynx is JJ’s mother), tested for heartworms (they have not been on heartworm preventative), and dentals ! Jynx and JJ are Yorkie/Bichon mixes. White Lily, G-Baby, and Puppy are Yorkie/Maltese mixes. They are all super sweet and a little confused right now.

We need your donations to be able to pay for all this medical care for 5 ladies in need! Pray that none of them have heartworms !

Thank you for your support !

Jynx

Jynx is a 6.6 lb Yorkie/Bichon about 5 years old. She came to Marden’s Ark Dog Tales when her owner had health issues and decided it was in her best interest and Jynx’s to find her another home.

Jynx does well with other dogs, big and small. Although because of her small size, a home with an energetic larger dog would not be a good fit. She’s very friendly and loves everybody.  She is used to being with other dogs and plays with the dogs that were in her family.  She loves to run outside and chase the birds and squirrels.

Jynx has tested for Heartworms.  She has been started on the Slow-kill method to get rid of these parasites.   Heartworms are not contagious from dog to dog.   They get them from infected mosquitos.   She is on a 30 course of antibiotic and has to receive monthly heartworm preventative that has ivermectin (ie/ Heartgard or Iverhart).   She cannot receive other kinds of preventative until she tests negative.   She will go home with 6 months of Heartgard and need to be retested in 6 months.

Jynx is pee pad trained and knows to go when she goes outside but needs to learn a schedule to be fully housetrained. She does well in a crate at home and is a good rider in the car.

Jynx is up-to-date on vaccines, spayed, and microchipped. She also had a dental when she was spayed in February and had no teeth pulled !

If you are interested in adopting Jynx, please fill out an  Adoption Application.

J.J.

J.J. is a 7.4 lb Yorkie/Bichon mix and about 2 years old. She came to Marden’s Ark Dog Tales when her owner had health issues and decided it was in her best interest and J.J.’s to find her another home.

J.J. does well with other dogs, big and small. Although because of her small size, a home with an energetic larger dog would not be a good fit. She’s a quiet, sweet girl that loves to be held and petted. She is used to being around other dogs so would probably prefer a home with another smaller dog or calm bigger dog to pal around with.

J.J. is pee pad trained and knows to go when she goes outside but needs to learn a schedule to be fully housetrained. She does well in a crate at home and is a good rider in the car. J.J. just had a dental and didn’t lose any teeth.

J.J. is up-to-date on vaccines, spayed, and microchipped. J.J. is on heartworm and flea preventative.

Adoption Fee:  $400
