Rosie

Rosie is a sweet,  about 5-year-old chihuahua mix and weighs 9.5 pounds.  The vet that did her dental says her teeth look like she may be younger.   She came to Marden’s Ark Dog Tales as a very shy and skittish stray.  Since then, Rosie has opened right up and wants to give everyone all her love!

Rosie is a little hesitant on a leash but she’s improving. She is mostly house trained and only has accidents if she isn’t let out when it’s time to wake up in the morning.  Therefore, she would do best on a schedule. She is also crate trained.  Rosie does well with other small dogs but, she hasn’t been around many other sizes of dogs. She can be reactive when she becomes scared or startled so she would do best in a home without small children. She may require some patience if she becomes startled, but she’s worth it.

Rosie absolutely loves people and getting attention! She will make sure you keep petting her by nudging your hand non-stop. Her tail never seems to stop wagging and she always has a smile on her face when she’s around people. She has quite the personality and likes to army crawl across the floor. You’re guaranteed to get a good laugh in when you’re around Rosie. She doesn’t seem to have much interest in dog toys aside from chew sticks and does not bark much unless another dog in the house is barking. She would make a great addition to a family and can’t wait to meet her forever home.

Rosie is up to date on all vaccines, heartworm preventative, and flea preventative. She is spayed and microchipped.

Adoption Fee:  $300

Petunia

Petunia is a sweet Shih Tzu mix about 5 years old and 12 lbs. She came to Marden’s Ark Dog Tales when she was picked up as a very matted, and underweight stray. No one came to claim her. She’s got the cutest underbite ! She loves people and gets along well with other dogs. She’s more interested in people than dogs but doesn’t mind other dogs at all.

Petunia does well on a leash, going out to dinner (food is her most favorite thing), and in the car. She is house trained and crate trained. She has gained some weight and is at a good size now. Petunia just had a dental and bloodwork done.
She would be happy in a home with other dogs or being the only dog.

Petunia is up to date on all vaccines, heartworm preventative, and flea preventative. She is spayed and microchipped.

Petunia’s adoption fee is $300.

If you are interested in adoption Petunia, please visit our website and fill out an Adoption Application.

Jynx

Jynx is a 6.6 lb Yorkie/Bichon about 5 years old. She came to Marden’s Ark Dog Tales when her owner had health issues and decided it was in her best interest and Jynx’s to find her another home.

Jynx does well with other dogs, big and small. Although because of her small size, a home with an energetic larger dog would not be a good fit. She’s very friendly and loves everybody.  She is used to being with other dogs and plays with the dogs that were in her family.  She loves to run outside and chase the birds and squirrels.

Jynx has tested for Heartworms.  She has been started on the Slow-kill method to get rid of these parasites.   Heartworms are not contagious from dog to dog.   They get them from infected mosquitos.   She is on a 30 course of antibiotic and has to receive monthly heartworm preventative that has ivermectin (ie/ Heartgard or Iverhart).   She cannot receive other kinds of preventative until she tests negative.   She will go home with 6 months of Heartgard and need to be retested in 6 months.

Jynx is pee pad trained and knows to go when she goes outside but needs to learn a schedule to be fully housetrained. She does well in a crate at home and is a good rider in the car.

Jynx is up-to-date on vaccines, spayed, and microchipped. She also had a dental when she was spayed in February and had no teeth pulled !

J.J.

J.J. is a 7.4 lb Yorkie/Bichon mix and about 2 years old. She came to Marden’s Ark Dog Tales when her owner had health issues and decided it was in her best interest and J.J.’s to find her another home.

J.J. does well with other dogs, big and small. Although because of her small size, a home with an energetic larger dog would not be a good fit. She’s a quiet, sweet girl that loves to be held and petted. She is used to being around other dogs so would probably prefer a home with another smaller dog or calm bigger dog to pal around with.

J.J. is pee pad trained and knows to go when she goes outside but needs to learn a schedule to be fully housetrained. She does well in a crate at home and is a good rider in the car. J.J. just had a dental and didn’t lose any teeth.

J.J. is up-to-date on vaccines, spayed, and microchipped. J.J. is on heartworm and flea preventative.

Jules

Jules is a 6 lb Maltese/Yorkie and was born 9/16/2022. She came to Marden’s Ark Dog Tales when her owner had health issues and decided it was in her best interest and Jules’s to find her another home.

Jules does well with other dogs, big and small. Although because of her small size, a home with an energetic larger dog would not be a good fit. She’s a quiet, sweet girl and little bit shy. She is used to being with other dogs and would probably come out of her shell more quickly with another dog around.  Since she is young, she adjusts quickly and would probably do ok being an only dog also.  Jules likes to play with dog toys and will rarely try to play with something that is not a dog toy (unusual for a puppy).  She’s had a lot of changes in her life lately and needs a little patience to give her time to adjust.

Jules is pee pad trained and knows to go when she goes outside but needs to learn a schedule to be fully housetrained. She does well in a crate at home and is a good rider in the car.

Jules is up-to-date on vaccines, spayed, and microchipped. Jules is on heartworm and flea preventative.

Lilly

Lilly is a 7.3 lb Maltese/Yorkie and about 6 years old. She came to Marden’s Ark Dog Tales when her owner had health issues and decided it was in her best interest and Lilly’s to find her another home.

Lilly does well with other dogs, big and small. Although because of her small size, a home with an energetic larger dog would not be a good fit. She’s a quiet, sweet girl and little bit shy but loves to be held and petted. She is used to being with other dogs and would probably come out of her shell more quickly with another dog around.

Lilly is pee pad trained and knows to go when she goes outside but needs to learn a schedule to be fully housetrained. She does well in a crate at home and is a good rider in the car. Lilly just had a dental and lost a LOT of teeth. She seems to still eat small kibble with no problem but may do better with a softer food.

Lilly is up-to-date on vaccines, spayed, and microchipped. Lilly is on heartworm and flea preventative.

Adoption Fee:  $350

Shadow

Shadow is a 8.2 lb Maltese/Yorkie and about 2 years old. She came to Marden’s Ark Dog Tales when her owner had health issues and decided it was in her best interest and Shadow’s to find her another home.  Photos do not do justice to  her beautiful highlighted hair.

Shadow does well with other dogs, big and small. Although because of her small size, a home with an energetic larger dog would not be a good fit. She’s a quiet, sweet girl and little bit shy. She is used to being with other dogs and would probably come out of her shell more quickly with another dog around.  She’s had a lot of changes in her life lately and needs patience to give her time to adjust.  She loves playing with her daughter, Jules (also available for adoption) and other dogs.  I would love to see them adopted together to help Shadow adjust to another change.   After being in a foster home for 6 weeks, Shadow is making progress.  She will approach a hand and lick it and take a treat.  However, if you raise the hand to try to pet her, she will back away.   She is making some progress with petting and will allow it sometimes if approached slowly.  Also, she will now lay on the couch and let me pet her there also.   I think with some patience and a family that is experienced with a shy dog, she will come around in just a few months.

Shadow is pee pad trained and knows to go when she goes outside but needs to learn a schedule to be fully housetrained. She does well in a crate at home and is a good rider in the car. Shadow just had a dental and did not lose any teeth.

Shadow is up-to-date on vaccines, spayed, and microchipped. Shadow is on heartworm and flea preventative.

Cleopatra

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Cleopatra (aka Miss Congeniality) found herself in need of a new home when her owner passed away. She is a super sweet 9 year old girl, about 39 lbs. She is a mixed breed but something about her reminds me of a Shar-pei. She LOVES EVERYBODY ! She loves to go for car rides. Cleopatra needs some work with loose leash walking. She is just so excited to meet anyone that she doesn’t understand leash boundaries yet. Cleopatra is a quiet girl. She had mammary tumors that were removed and tested and were NOT cancer! She is recovering very nicely from surgery.

After a recent adoption event, Cleopatra was zonked in the back seat of the car. But we decided to take her to a fundraiser event and get her Santa photo taken. The event was very crowded with people and dogs of all ages and sizes. Cleopatra went from being zonked in the back seat to Miss Congeniality and the happiest social butterfly you have ever seen ! She wanted to go meet all the dogs and all the people. She helped herself to come doggie treats that were for sale on the table. She is very food motivated !

She would be happiest in a home with another dog as she really wants to play! But not a large, energetic dog. She is a senior and wants to play but moves a little slow. I do not know how she would do with cats. Cleopatra is up to date on all vaccines, heartworm preventative, and flea preventative. She is spayed and microchipped.

Cleopatra is a great companion.

Cleopatra’s adoption fee is $200.

Minnie

Minnie is a 4 year old, 13 lb loving and playful Chihuahua mix.  She loves all people and other dogs.  She was found as a stray with Mickey.   They like each other very much but are not bonded.

Minnie rides well in the car and does well on the leash.  She does well in a crate especially on car rides.

Minnie loves to play.  She would do best in a home with another canine companion.  As much as she loves her humans and to cuddle on the couch, she loves to play with a furry companion! She also likes to be near her human people and cuddle on the couch.   Recommended for a family with children that are old enough and have learned to be respectful of small dogs.

Minnie just had a dental and had no extractions!

Minnie is up to date on all vaccines, heartworm preventative, and flea preventative.   She is microchipped and spayed.

Adoption Fee:   $325

If you are interested in adopted Minnie, please fill out an Adoption Application.

Mickey

Mickey is a 4 year old, 7.5 lb loving and playful Chihuahua/Terrier mix.  He loves all people and other dogs.  He was found as a stray with  Minnie.   They like each other very much but are not bonded.

Mickey rides well in the car and does well on the leash.  He does ok in a crate especially on car rides. However, he doesn’t prefer it and will bark in the crate in the house at times.  He can also slide the crate latch from the inside and free himself !  Mickey would do best in a home with another canine companion. As much as he loves his humans and to cuddle on the couch, he loves to play with a furry companion!
